What to Expect

Most sessions, other than newborns and milestones for their first year, are outdoor location sessions, generally limited to spring and fall. Winter and summer aren't recommended for obvious reasons. Winter is cold and gray with pretty background scenery hard, if not impossible, to find.....not the best look for your portraits. Summer in south Louisiana is miserably hot and humid and mosquito-filled, which typically results in red faces, un-editable sweat stains on some wardrobe colors and fabrics, unhappy husbands, and kids unable to resist scratching their arms and legs. For children age 2 and up, we do understand the idea behind wanting a session around their birthday, which in some cases happens to be in January or August....sometimes adjusting it by a couple of months can make all the difference in a successful session.

Our style for family sessions is a mix of posed "look at the camera" portraits and candid interaction shots. It is also a mix of various subject combinations.....the whole family together, just the kids together, each child individually, mom and dad as a couple, each parent with kids together, each parent with individual children, etc.

About 24-48 hours after your session, a Facebook sneak peek or two will be posted for you to see. Approximately 3-4 days after the session, a "soft proof" gallery will be sent for you to select your favorite images to be final-edited for your finished gallery. (Each session package includes a specified number of images, with the option to add additional images on a per file basis.) "Soft-proofing" consists of basic tweaks of exposure and color and some preliminary cropping only. When making your choices focus on facial expressions, subjects, and overall composition. Your selections will be fully edited, which includes fine tuning adjustments such as skin retouching, possible removal of some background distractions, etc. The estimated turnaround time for the finished gallery is 2-3 weeks after you have submitted your selections. The PIN-protected gallery of fully retouched images will be available for viewing/downloading the digital files, with the link and access code emailed to you. The gallery will be active for downloading for 60 days from the email date. (There is a restoration fee required to un-archive expired galleries....please make sure to download and backup the digital files from your session during the 60-day activation period.)

Product purchases are not required, but a print credit is included in most packages which can be applied to products ordered through the store feature attached to your gallery. These high-quality products are produced by reputable professional photography lab partners that specialize in each type of product.....prints, canvases, albums, and other miscellaneous items. Our editing monitor is calibrated to match the printers used by these labs. Results from outside vendors cannot be guaranteed.
